About the BB Waikato Charitable Trust

Formation & Development

The Waikato Boys' Brigade Trust was established from a Dixon family donation following the passing of Mr Gordon Oliver Dixon a past Waikato Battalion President and formerly long serving, ex West Auckland BB Captain. Gordon had a strong interest in leadership training and personal development leading to the formation of the... "Gordon Dixon Leadership Training and Development Fund".

Additional Fund Established

Following the passing of Mr Andrew Robertson Wilson, a long-serving, founding Captain of the 1st Hamilton BB Company and strong supporter of the Waikato Battalion, an additional fund was set up supported by a donation from the Wilson family. Andrew always had a love of camping, tramping and the outdoors generally, leading to the formation of the... "Andrew Wilson Special Activities Fund".

Generous Gift Received

In 2016, the 7th Hamilton Boy’s Brigade Company, in recess, made a generous donation to the Trust of accumulated funds on behalf of past and present members of that company. The donation was shared between both funds.

Commemorations

To commemorate the work of the Rev. Harry Ivan Shaw, a long-serving officer and previous Captain of the 7th Hamilton BB Company, active fund raiser and past national BB President, trustees agreed to add his name to the Special Activities fund. The fund is now known as the... "Andrew Wilson - Harry Shaw Special Activities Fund".

Following the passing of Mr Robert Edward (Ward) Semadeni Fischer at the end of 2018, and a substantial gift left from his estate to the trust, the trustees have decided to commemorate Ward's legacy of over 50 years service in the Boy's Brigade, by adding his name to the Training and Development fund - now called the "Gordon Dixon and Ward Fischer Leadership Training and Development Fund".
